Affirming LGBTQ+
The Affirming LGBTQ+ Group meets to advocate and embody a sense of belonging and welcome and that “all means all”. 

Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation
The Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation group seeks to embody and learn about the need to make visible God’s beloved community. The denomination wide initiative invites the church to listen to the once silenced voices of its racial/ethnic communities, learn from their wisdom, and gain insight from their leadership.

Book Study
They meet on Zoom every Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:15 AM. Grab your coffee and your book, and join this group!

Care Cupboard
The Care Cupboard provides personal care items to those who are without housing or housing insecure. It is open from 5:00-6:00 PM on Thursdays in conjunction with Community Meal.

Care Support Group
The Care Support Group is for individuals caring for loved ones, or individuals who have lost loved ones and are grieving. They meet once a month for fellowship and learning.

Choir
The choir meets every Wednesday from 7:15-8:30 PM at the church for rehearsal and performs during worship every Sunday.

Community Meal
The Community Meal is offered every Thursday from 5:00-6:00 PM. The mission of the Community Meal of First Christian Church is to foster a spirit of inclusive community that nourishes bodies and spirits, encourages and strengthens friendship, shares kindness, and inspires hope through the simple act of providing and sharing a free, nutritious weekly meal to all in a welcoming and safe environment.

Covenant Group
A covenant group is a small relational group made up of six to twelve people who meet regularly to establish and nurture themselves in their own beloved community. Covenant groups provide an opportunity for group members to build strong relationships with each other and with the larger organization of which the small group is a part.”  

Faith Formation
Faith Formation programming is for all ages and is offered every Sunday at 9:00 AM. “Faith Talk” is more informal and geared towards all ages and will take place in the Fellowship Hall while we also have another opportunity for “study” that is geared more toward adults.

Health Care Justice Discussion Group
Anyone who is interested in learning about the crisis in health care accessibility and affordability and what we can do to deal with it is welcome to join.

Israel-Palestine Advocacy Team
The Israel Palestine Advocacy Group started in 2022 as a study group to explore the roots of the Israel-Palestine conflict. After witnessing Israel’s brutal response to the Hamas attack, we decided to take action. We have organized with community members who share our concern to put on demonstrations, host speakers and helped found Albany Palestine Solidarity, which takes part in additional actions.  

Loads of Love Albany (LOLA)
LOLA offers laundry assistance for those in need on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. This takes place at the Queen and Hill laundry mat in Albany from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. 

Prayer Shawl
The Prayer Shawl Ministry group continues to meet from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on the first and third Mondays of each month, creating shawls to be distributed by clergy to those experiencing illness or loss.

Prime Timers
We are not wanting to take away from what is now offered, but just to add more opportunity for those of us who are retired and have more time on our hands to be blessed by: looking back on the good memories of our lives; laughing/crying; and enjoying the enrichment of our time together.
Retired adults interested in being part of the Prime Timers fellowship group are invited to join.

Reiki
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing practice that involves gentle touch provided by trained Reiki practitioners. It offers comforting and soothing support to help regain balance in the body, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote relaxation. A small group of experienced Reiki practitioners meets at the church every Monday to practice Reiki skills and continue their study of this healing process and offers Reiki sessions to others on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons by appointment. Two Reiki members will work together to provide you with a session.

Running Group
A small group of FCC folks gather on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm for a 4-ish mile “slow roll” run (they aim for a 10:30-11:00 minute mile). During poor weather, the group meets at the church. During nicer weather, the group gathers at Lexington Park. Childcare is provided!  

Young Adult Group
This is a space to get to know one another and meet in a group setting once a month. The intended audience for this group is adults between the ages of ’20s-’40s, although anyone can attend these gatherings. We also encourage members to invite their significant others or friends.

Youth Group
Youth Group meets two Sundays a month from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Youth Room upstairs. Dinner is provided each youth group and we meet to explore spirituality, mindfulness, and intentional time with each other.
